KENNETH COPELAND MINISTRIES – Obeying Him In The Small Things

( Friday November 23, 2018)

TOPIC: Obey Him in the Little Things — Gloria Copeland

(KENNETH COPELAND MINISTRIES)

He who is faithful in a very little [thing] is faithful also in much.

Luke 16:10, The Amplified Bible

MESSAGE:

Have you ever wanted to take on some really big project in the kingdom of God, but the Lord just wouldn’t seem to let you? If so, there’s probably a good reason why.

You can see what I’m talking about if you’ll read about what God did with the children of Israel after He brought them out of Egypt. He wanted to take them on into the Promised Land. But before He could do it, God had to know if they would obey Him. He had to know if they would listen to His voice. Because if they didn’t, the enemies they were about to face would wipe them out.

So, do you know what He did? He tested them in a small matter.

Exodus 16:4 tells us about this simple test. “Then said the Lord unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or not.”

God took a little, insignificant matter—the food they ate—and used it to see if they would listen to Him or not. He told them how much of it to gather, when to gather and when not to, and what to do with it after they brought it in.

And the Israelites went right out and violated those instructions. They showed God by their actions that His voice was not important to them. They were not willing to obey even His simplest commands.

God works the same way today. Before He sends you on a major mission, He gives you the opportunity to prove you can be trusted with small instructions.

But many of us miss that opportunity. We pray, What do You want me to do, Lord? Where do You want me to go? I’ll do anything You say. But then when the Lord says, I want you to get up and pray in the Spirit one hour every morning, we fail to obey Him. We say, “Oh yeah, that would be good. I ought to do that.” But somehow we never quite get around to it.

Don’t make that mistake. Start today obeying God in the little things. Let Him see that He can trust you out there in a place of much authority. Let Him know you’ll be faithful to His words and to the voice of His Spirit. Once He knows you won’t let disobedience wipe you out, He’ll start sending bigger assignments your way.

Christmas:No blood-sucking demons on the road – FRSC

Published by v.o.cb tips- November 22, 2018

FRSC

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has cautioned against the belief by some people, including commuters, of the existence of blood-sucking demons that kill travellers on the road during the yuletide.

Mr Samuel Obayemi, FRSC Zonal Commanding Officer, Zone RF9 Enugu, gave the caution in Owerri on Thursday, during the flag-off of this year’s “ember month” campaign.

Speaking on the theme, ‘Safe Driving, Safe Arrival,’ the zonal commanding officer describe such belief as erroneous, and said human factors were responsible for most of the road crashes in the country. “There are no blood-sucking demons on the road to kill you; stop believing that someone from your village wants to send accident to you through the air.

“If you drive safely, you must arrive safely. “That is why we are sensitising the public, especially for this year’s yuletide, which is fast approaching,” he said. Obayemi gave the number of road crashes in the zone for September and October as 26 and 34 respectively. He said 51 persons were injured in road crashes in September while 108 were injured in October. “In addition, 44 lives were lost in September, while October claimed 206 lives,” he said.

According to the road safety boss, the campaign is targeted at reducing road crashes by 15 per cent and fatality by 30 per cent. Meanwhile, the Corps Marshal of FRSC, Mr Boboye Oyeyemi, has said that the commission will be strict in its conduct of the ‘Vision Acuity Tests’ to ensure drivers did not drive with defective eyesight.

Oyeyemi, who was represented by an official of the FRSC, Nwamaka Efobi, said the commission had initiated an enforcement taskforce, ‘Operation Cobra,’ to curb major traffic offences. Such traffic violations, he said, included drunk-driving, use of phone while driving and route violation. The Imo Sector Commander of the commission, Mr Joseph Aremu, however, said the command had intensified operation to ensure free traffic flow in Imo. While assuring that the command would continue to carry out sensitization programmes, he urged road users to ensure that speed limit devices were installed in their vehicles.

Church condemns commercialization of Christmas

Germany’s Protestant Church has complained on Thursday of the “merciless commercialisation” of Christmas and the early opening of festive markets in some cities.

“What remains of the rhythm of life, the rhythm of the liturgical year, when everything is available all the time and thus arbitrary?” said a spokeswoman of the Evangelical Church in Germany.

“The merciless commercialisation of Advent and Christmas spells a contrary message to what the Bible tells us.”

She said the four-week Advent period starting December 2 “should be experienced for its true meaning, as the time of anticipation of Christmas, of the coming of God”.

Germany has a long tradition of Christmas markets that sell mulled wine, sweets, handicrafts, Christmas decorations and other presents.

Most German cities, among them Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Cologne and Luebeck, will open their Christmas markets on November 26.

Others opened on Thursday, including markets in Freiburg, Dortmund and Duesseldorf, while some have been operating since mid-November, such as in the city of Essen.

Essen’s Catholic diocese made a similar complaint about the markets that draw hordes of shoppers into city centres.

“We don’t want to be spoilsports,” diocese spokesman Ulrich Lota said.

But, he said, “it is important for us, as devout Christians, to point out…that Christmas is not some year-end cultural celebration with lights but the festivity that marks the birth of Jesus.”

Bishop Oyedepo to Dedicate Glory Dome in Abuja, The World largest Church Auditorium

Bishop Oyedepo, the Presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church, otherwise known as Winners Chapel, will on Saturday, November 25, 2018 dedicate the Glory Dome in Abuja
The 100,000 capacity edifice, built by the Dr. Paul Enenche-led the Dunamis International Gospel Centre is believed to be the largest church auditorium in the world.

IDOMA VOICE recalls that on September 14, 2014, Bishop Oyedepo was invited for the groundbreaking ceremony of place.

IDOMA VOICE’s tour on the Lord’s Garden on Wednesday showed that the awe-inspiring auditorium has no single visible pillar supporting it as the pillars are embedded in the walls while the beauty of the golden dome roof is more obvious.

The dedication of the building would herald the 2018 edition of church’s Kingdom Power and Glory World Conference tagged: “Come Up Hither.”

While Dr. Enenche’s spiritual father, Bishop Oyedepo would officially dedicate the building on Saturday, other men of God such as WF Kumuyi of Deeper Life, Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke, Morris Cerullo, Bishop David Abioye, while Dr. and Dr. Mrs. Paul Enenche would be the hosts.

Understanding the mysteries behind prayer and prosperity, by David Ibiyeomie….

TOPIC: Prayer and Prosperity- By David Ibiyeomie

Acts 10:4 (KJV) And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.

Prayer is an earthly license that compels heavenly interference and intervention. It is communicating with God on the basis of His Word and our relationship with Him. God’s awesome ability and power is enjoyed through prayers.

As a child of God, when you are prayerless, you become powerless because we draw God’s power through prayer. God’s presence is constant but His manifesting power varies. You draw power through prayer in His presence. No economic circumstance can hold you down when you know what to do as a child of God.

Deuteronomy 8:18 (KJV) But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.

Prosperity is the state of all round well-being (physically, mentally and materially) according to 3 John 1:2 (KJV) Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

Financial prosperity on the other hand is having enough of God’s provision to promote the Kingdom of God, to meet our needs and the genuine needs of others according to 2 Corinthians 9:8 (KJV) And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

Psalms 20:2-3 (KJV) Send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Zion; Remember all thy offerings, and accept thy burnt sacrifice; Selah.

Prayer and prosperity simply means seeking divine intervention by engaging the forces of prayer and seed sowing. It is the act of seeking the hand of God in your life by calling on Him and sowing of seeds.

Acts 10:4 (KJV) And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.

Your prayer and seeds commit God to respond in your favour. When you pray and do not give, you suffer hardship and when you give without praying, you become vulnerable to the forces of darkness.

Haggai 2:6, 8 (KJV) For thus saith the LORD of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land; The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the LORD of hosts.

It is what you allow that God will allow. God cannot shake the heaven and the earth for your desire to come until you engage these forces.

Isaiah 45:11 (KJV) Thus saith the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me.

Power cannot be demonstrated without prayers. When the forces of prayer and giving are applied, no force in hell can stop you. As you apply these forces from today, I see God prosper you beyond human comprehension in Jesus’ Name -Amen!

SALVATION IS A PERSONAL RACE– TONTO DIKEH TELLS PATIENCE OZOKWOR

Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh, has disagreed with her colleague, Patience Ozokwor over claims that a born-again Christian must change their ‘worldly wardrobe’ if they’ve truly repented.

Patience Ozokwor in a recent interview spoke about the importance of changing one’s wardrobe after they had given their lives to Christ. “The church is separate from the world. Let us know who you are. If you have repented and you have not changed your wardrobe, you still have a long way to go,” she said.

Reacting to this, however, Tonto Dikeh in the comment section disagree with her stating that changing your wardrobe as a sign of repentance was a local way of viewing Christianity as salvation is personal.

“With all due respect mama, biko run your race, salvation is personal and it’s not sin in the bible. “It’s this local way of viewing Christianity that actually corrupts the house of God with polluted message.“Too much love for you mama but ya WRONG, If anyone decides to serve God in Rags, designer’s, hair or no hair knock yourselves out.

Anglican primate tasks FG on tackling insecurity..

Published by v.o.cbtips

Primate

The Primate of Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Most Reverend Nicholas Okoh, has asked the federal government to do everything in its powers to shield the citizenry from all forms of attacks by criminal elements.

The primate noted that the reality on ground indicated that government still needs to do more to instill confidence on the citizens that it working to protect their interests.

Okoh made the call at the weekend in Abuja during the consecration of three new Bishops and presentation of Archbishops at the Anglican Cathedral Church of St. Bartholomew in Kubwa, Abuja.

According to him, “Nigerians should insist that the government fulfills its social contract with the people to protect their lives and property. It is the responsibility of the people in power to protect its citizens; if there is a breach of security, we cry to the government.”

The clergyman said if this is not done, it is the fault of government.

The new bishops are Geoffrey Ekpenisi, Bishop of Ika Diocese in Delta State; Chukwuma Oparah, Bishop of Owerri Diocese, Imo State and Jezreel Vandeh, Bishop of Zaki Biam Diocese, Benue State.

He charged the new bishops to live up to expectation, and advised them to be wary of politicians and their followers.

One of the newly-consecrated bishops, Ekpenisi of Bishop of Ika Diocese, gave reasons why the Anglican Church is witnessing resurgent growth in the country.

He said one of the reasons is that many people are looking for a church where they may feel calm, happy, and where the gospel is preached without adulteration.

“Apparently the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion has that face for many people today,” he said.

BISHOP BANNED SOME CHURCHES IN HIS JURIDICTION OVER SAME SEX MARRIAGES.

Published by v.o.cbtips

bishop

A bishop has banned churches in his district from performing same-sex marriages because Satan loves gay people.

Bishop William Love, an Episcopal bishop in Albany, New York, said Satan was encouraging gay sex by allowing same-sex couples to get married and placed a block on clergy in the Diocese of Albany despite being direct opposition to the church’s vote in July to approve marriage equality.

In an open letter, Love said the church had been “hijacked by the ‘Gay Rights Agenda’” and continued to say it was “very well organised, very strategic, very well-financed and very powerful”.

He wrote: “Satan is having a heyday bringing division into the Church over these issues and is trying to use the Church to hurt and destroy the very ones we love and care about.”

Love continued to say that Satan was “deceiving the leadership of the Church into creating ways for our gay and lesbian brothers and sister to embrace their sexual desires”.

He added: “There is no doubt The Episcopal Church and now the Diocese of Albany are in the midst of a huge storm that can rip us apart if we are not careful.

“That is exactly what Satan wants. We don’t have to play his game. If we focus on what divides us, we will be destroyed.”

WHY SOME CHURCHES SPEAK IN TONGUES AND OTHERS DO NOT BELIEVE IN IT.

Today’s reading: Acts 18-20.

Publiched by V.O.CBTIPS on 21st november 2018.

“Should Christians still be speaking in tongues today?”

I don’t have any experience with speaking in tongues. My Christian experience has been in Methodist and Southern Baptist churches that do not practice this spiritual gift. The book of Acts describes it repeatedly, however, and it still plays a big role in some denominations. Let’s look at the expression of speaking in tongues in Acts, in the first years of the church. Later, in Paul’s writings, we’ll see a more developed and structured use of the gift.

The word for tongue can also mean language. Because of convention and usage we talk of speaking in tongues, but we could just as accurately say speaking in languages, which may be closer to the meaning of the gift. When it was first expressed, at Pentecost, the sounds that the believers uttered were actual foreign languages that were understood by the foreign Jews who were present. Many years later, as Paul traveled through Asia Minor, the Holy Spirit came on new believers and they spoke in tongues or languages.

While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul took the road through the interior and arrived at Ephesus. There he found some disciples and asked them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” They answered, “No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.” So Paul asked, “Then what baptism did you receive?” “John’s baptism,” they replied. Paul said, “John’s baptism was a baptism of repentance. He told the people to believe in the one coming after him, that is, in Jesus.” On hearing this, they were baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus. When Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied. Acts 19:1-6

Here are some of the common elements that accompanied the use of speaking in tongues in the early church:

Tongues came through the Holy Spirit. In Acts 2, at Pentecost, “they were all filled with the Holy Spirit.” In Acts 10, when the centurion Cornelius and his friends believed, “the Holy Spirit fell on all them which heard the word.” In Acts 19, when Paul baptized the Ephesians, “the Holy Spirit came on them.”

Speaking in tongues came at the first indwelling of the Spirit. In each of the examples in Acts, the gift of tongues came when believers were first filled with the Spirit. At Pentecost it was the first time that the Spirit filled any of the believers. In the case of Cornelius and the Ephesians, it was when new believers were filled with the Spirit.

Tongues gave confirmation of the presence of the Spirit. The gift of tongues acted as a sign, authenticating the change in the believers, the presence of the Holy Spirit, and the power of God working through them. It was a sign to the believers themselves and to those around them. It was a witness to unbelievers and a proof to believers of the conversion of new believers.

Tongues magnified God. At Pentecost the foreign Jews heard the wonders of God declared in their own language. When Cornelius was converted, he and his friends magnified God as they spoke in tongues. In Ephesus the gift of tongues was accompanied by prophesy.

Speaking in tongues came without any urging, coaching, or rehearsal. The believers who spoke in tongues had not experienced the gift before. They had not seen it in action, or been told about it. It was a spontaneous work of the Holy Spirit, and appears to have been involuntary.

“Those who know that glossolalia is not God’s path for them and those for whom it is a proven enrichment should neither try to impose their own way on others, nor judge others inferior for being different, nor stagger if someone in their camp transfers to the other, believing that God has led him or her to do so. Those who pray with tongues and those who pray without tongues do it to the Lord; they stand or fall to their own master, not their fellow-servants; and in the same sense that there is in Christ neither Jew nor Greek, bond nor free, male nor female, so in Christ there is neither glossolalist nor non-glossolalist.”
― J.I. Packer, Keep in Step with the Spirit: Finding Fullness in Our Walk with God

“Whether these gifts of the Holy Ghost were designed to remain in the Church throughout all ages, and whether or not they will be restored at the nearer approach of the ‘restitution of all things,’ are questions which it is not needful to decide. But it is needful to observe this, that, even in the infancy of the Church, God divided them with a sparing hand. Were all even then Prophets? Were all workers of miracles? Had all the gifts of healing? Did all speak with tongues? No, in no wise. Perhaps not one in a thousand. Probably none but the Teachers in the Church, and only some of them. (1 Corinthians 12:28-30.) It was, therefore, for a more excellent purpose than this, that ‘they were all filled with the Holy Ghost.’ ” – John Wesley, Scriptural Christianity

‘Tongues’ refers to the gift of speech which, though making sounds, and using apparent or even actual languages, somehow bypasses the speaker’s conscious mind. Such speech is experienced as a stream of praise in which, though the speaker may not be able to articulate what precisely is being said, a sense of love for God, of adoration and gratitude, wells up and overflows. It is like a private language of love.” – N.T. Wright

“The speaking in tongues in Acts has a very definite roll to play. It’s directly connected to the presence of people from all the nations who need to understand the great things the disciples were saying. In other words the miracle of tongues was a demonstration of God’s sovereign power, and it showed that this power promised in Acts 1:8 really was intended to advance the spread of the gospel to the ends of the earth. It was a token that God means for all peoples to understand his greatness and that he is willing to do miracles to make his glory known among the nations. That leaves just one last observation from the text. And it turns out to be a caution to us. In verse 12 the demonstration of God’s power in the miracle of tongues causes amazement and perplexity among everyone. ‘And all were amazed and perplexed.’ But the perplexity gave way to two very different responses. Some seriously asked, ‘What does this mean?’ Others (in verse 13) mocked and leaped to a naturalistic explanation: ‘They are filled with new wine.’ This is the caution: whenever revival comes — whenever the Holy Spirit is poured out in extraordinary power — this division happens in the Christian community. Some genuinely inquire as to what this is, and test all things, and hold fast to what is good. Others stand outside and mock and write off the enthusiasm as merely human, ‘They are filled with new wine.’

They need the reviving power of the holyghost..

KNOWLEDGE IS THE FOUNDATION AND THE BUILDING OF OUR SPIRITUALITY.

Evangelism tip: coming to the realisation of their knowing that Jesus love them, HOLYGHOST IS THE POWER ENGINE THAT PRODUCES THE LIGHT IN DARKNESS.

To grow in God, first, we have got to know things—His things. “Knowledge of the holy is understanding” (Prov. 9: 10). If you want to take a look at a human being without this kind of knowledge, then observe the young man in Proverbs 7. He does not know of His plan to perfect us. He hasn’t a clue about the spiritual maturity that can transform us into righteous powerhouses. He has no knowledge of God and His thoughts and ways, and he is left as prey for the lion Satan who “goes about seeking whom he may devour” (I Pet. 5: 8).

The young man is a type of all young men who are “void of understanding” and who lack true knowledge of the holy. He easily falls prey to the “woman with the attire of a harlot.” This loose woman in Proverbs is a symbol of the false religious system; she is exposed later as “MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH” (Rev. 17: 5). She through flattery and empty promises of love and peace seduces the young man, and he goes down “as an ox goes to the slaughter.” The Spirit concludes with this warning: “She has cast down many wounded; yea, many strong men have been slain by her. Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death.”

So we see that the young man was indeed destroyed for lack of true knowledge of God. False knowledge taught by the mother church and her daughters about God will ruin us. This is the lesson of Proverbs 7. Without much extrapolation, we see that, yes, we must have His knowledge; without it we are a complete spiritual failure in our Maker’s eyes.

After attaining His knowledge of His plan and purpose, we must begin to do what we now know to do. “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” Free from what? Free from thinking that you have to sin. For that is exactly what the churches keep pounding into you.

But God has it all lined out. To grow to full maturity/perfection, to be like the apostles and prophets, He’s got a grid of requirements that we are to do. These are not works to get salvation or stay saved. No. We do what He’s asked us to do because we love and appreciate Him. Yahweh desires for us to grow to be like Him, so that we can be a channel of His love to the world. That is why we do the knowledge. We are to be “doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving [our] own selves” (James 1: 22).

The word says that we can do all things through Christ. The harlot church teaches that we will be sinners right down to the bitter end of this mortal existence. The churches teach that we can never grow to maturity/perfection in this life, that we will always be sinners.

But the apostle John did not believe that. Here’s some knowledge for us. “And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins; and in Him is no sin. Whosoever abides in Him sins not; whosoever sins has not seen Him, neither known Him. Little children, let no man deceive you…” (I John 3: 5-7). These have got to be the least quoted verses in the Bible.

And as for the argument that we cannot be like the early apostles, that it was just for their time, the word says that grace teaches us “to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age.” The “present age” is our time, too, for Christ does not change (Titus 2: 12). We know that it is possible; just look at the early apostles and their doctrine that took them to maturity/perfection. And nowhere does it say that we cannot be like them–“in this present age.” can I tell you this…it is not enough to know but knowing enough of something that produces possibilities.

OPINION 2019: How will the church vote?

Published November 17, 2018

Thursday with Abimbola
Adelakun aadelakun @ punchng . com

When the Peoples Democratic Party presidential
candidate for the 2019 elections , Atiku Abubakar ,
visited former President Olusegun Obasanjo , in
Abeokuta, Ogun State , one of the striking faces in the
photographs that emerged from the meeting was that
of the founder of the Living Faith Church ( aka
Winners Chapel) , Bishop David Oyedepo. There were,
of course , other religious leaders, like Bishop
Matthew Kukah and Sheik Ibrahim Gumi, but
Oyedepo ’ s presence spoke far more loudly because of
the vital space he occupies in the Pentecostal- dom .
Oyedepo would later react to the hue and cry that
attended his appearance at that meeting by saying he
was there as a witness to a peace parley and not for
partisan reasons . Whether that explanation was an
afterthought or not, he brokered a discussion that
would have arisen eventually : How will the church
vote in 2019 ? By that question , I do not mean to suggest that the
church is a monolith , nor am I suggesting that the
Christians in the Nigerian electoral demographic have
singular concerns . In the same October Oyedepo
witnessed Atiku and Obasanjo ’ s peace meeting , some
men of God , led by one Bishop Sunday Garuba , led
other men of God , to pray for President Muhammadu
Buhari’ s re – election . The group , the National Inter –
Faith and Religious Organisations for Peace ,
organised a 40 – day prayer tagged, “ Buhari Shall
Come Back in 2019 . ” Bishop Garuba was quoted as
saying that the prayer was necessary because there
was a plot by “ agents of darkness ” to return Nigeria
to the “ bottomless pit . ” Their assignment as God ’ s
messengers , he claimed , was to forestall it through
the power of prayer. Given the diversity of interests ,
the question of how the church will vote is about
how religion will shape the 2019 polls . What will be
the overriding concerns of Nigerian Christians given
all that has unfolded since 2015 – the northernisation
and so- called Islamisation of public offices , the Fuani
herdsmen massacres particularly in places where
Christians have been the victims , and the massive hit
the economy has taken under Buhari ’ s watch
resulting in an almost unprecedented rate of
unemployment ?
Recently , I read the newly – releas ed book , The
Pentecostal Republic : R eligion and the Struggle for
State Power in Nigeria , written by Ebenezer Obadare ,
an academic and social scientist whose study of the
Nigerian religious cultures is pretty well – known in
academic and non- academic fora . This book explores
Pentecostalism as a source of socio – political influence
that has been muted by its cavort with the political
class, and whose reactionary force has had a
demobilising effect on the Nigerian civil society .
Since 1999 , the beginning of the Fourth Republic ,
Pentecostalism ’ s incorporeal presence has loomed
over every administrative dispensation .
Pentecostalism is the not- so- silent listener to every
national conversation, the unseen guest that
determines how the national meal will be shared
among those for whom faith is their access card to
the dining room of power .
The date , 1999 , is auspicious in the historicisation of
Pentecostal power and influence in Nigeria because ,
as Obadare argues , it was a period that
conglomerated several coincidences all of which
propelled the Pentecostal political power formation .
( That is not claiming that Christianity ’ s dalliance
with power only began with the rise of the
Pentecostalism , no ). It was in 1999 that Nigeria
returned to civil rule after a protracted military rule .
Interestingly enough , the death of the dictator, Gen .
Sani Abacha , that freed all of us from his
psychopathic grip and made democracy possible
happened shortly after Pastor Enoch Adeboye of the
Redeemed Christian Church of God ’ s prophecy.
Whether it was Adeboye ’ s prophecy that “ killed”
Abacha or not, the incident boosted his prophetic
influence and turned his church into a political
Mecca of sorts. At the last annual Holy Ghost
Congress of the church held in December 2017 ,
Pastor Adeboye still re – narrated the story of his
prophecy of Abacha ’ s death . The person who would become President , Olusegun
Obasanjo , had a straight – out- of – the Bible kind of
emotive narrative that appeals to religious folks : a
palace – to – prison story that mirrored that of Joseph in
the Old Testament . Obasanjo ’ s ascendancy was
labelled “ the second coming . ” The metaphysical
scaffolding of his Presidency was given more traction
by the Christian “ theocratic class” (as Obadare
described them ) that rose up around him . By
spinning Bible – based narratives of what the Obasanjo
momentum meant , they turned him to a “ born – again
President . ” Obasanjo ’ s Presidency could not help but
become churchi – fied because Christian organisations
saw him as an answer to what they had always
longed for : Religious and geopolitical power shift to a
southern Christian . Thus , the Pentecostal movement
broke the jinx of Christian non- involvement in
political power , and since 1999 , they have
consolidated their gains.
Then , there were other contributing factors such as
the global rise of Pentecostalism and its interfaces
with local culture and politics such that the ethos of
the Nigerian landscape almost radically became so
pentecostalised . The development aggravated Muslim
discontent and contestation for public space resulting
in the push for Sharia law and various other national
dramas . Other factors that converged around that
same period include Pentecostalism ’ s tilt towards
neo – liberal ideology and its manifestations in the
growth of the prosperity gospel , along with the
emergence of influential and uber – rich jet- setting
pastors . The Pentecostal Republic charts all these
convergences , and how the social and cultural
imagery that was impregnated with Pentecostal
ethics since 1999 has continued to reproduce . The
result is that we have an enchanted democracy; one
where otherwise rational intellectual agents like Dr .
Reuben Abati ( yes, the book names names) would be
emboldened to write an article about demons in Aso
Rock , and it would resonate with the populace whose
imagination has been steeped in the belief that
political power and occultism are embedded , and that
the solution to such religious superstition is more
religious superstition .
In 2015 , it was remarkable that the power of
Pentecostal pastors ran its limits in their support of
Dr . Goodluck Jonathan . The Pentecostal factor did not
work for Jonathan as it did for Obasanjo because of a
number of factors, one of them was the excesses of
Jonathan himself ( and his wife , Patience ; and his
spiritual adviser ) who must have thought performing
one ’ s religiosity was an immutable formula for
retaining power . President Buhari undercut the
symbolic worth of Jonathan ’ s churchy display when
he chose the RCCG pastor and a professor of law ,
Yemi Osinbajo , as his running mate thus leaving
Jonathan clutching an expired blueprint for political
success ; his undertaking of different tawdry dramas
in his desperate bid for votes ending up almost
useless . With Osinbajo by Buhari’ s side , all the
claims about an imminent Islamisation agenda
vapourised , and Jonathan ’ s good luck ran out.
The Pentecostal Republic stops its analysis at the
2015 elections , and offers critical insights on the
future of Nigerian Pentecostalism . Considering that
the Fourth Republic will hit its 20 th anniversary
next year, it is essential to reflect on how religion
will continue to shape the political terrain. One
cannot but acknowledge that even though the
influence of Pentecostal pastors climaxed in 2015 , it
does not mean that they will not influence the 2019
elections . They will , only one is not so sure how it
will play out. For one , the configurations this time
round are somewhat different from what subsisted in
2015 . The frontline contenders are the Muslim –
Fulani , and nobody can successfully spin a narrative
of voting a Christian President that will unshackle us
from the grip of Hausa – Fulani – Islamic domination. It
is also unlikely that either Buhari or Atiku will
pander to the church as excessively as it happened in
2015 – Buhari is too arrogant to kneel before any
pastor and Atiku does not seem to be at home with
that kind of politics of ostentatious acts of piety. The Christian contenders in 2019 are actually the
deputies – Osinbajo and the PDP ’ s Peter Obi . Osinbajo
has an advantage on this score because Obi has
hardly ever sold himself based on his Christian faith.
Although it must be noted too that when Pastor –
Professor Osinbajo goes out to churches to campaign
this time , he will meet a much different sheep in the
Lord’ s flock . Unlike 2015 , they will be more
circumspect when he begins his usual smug , self –
righteous claim about their government ’ s moral
superiority. The past three years has proved that the
simultaneous zeal for the house of the Lord and for
Aso Rock that consumed Pentecostal pastors like him
has been about power and access , rather than
extending the frontiers of God ’ s kingdom . Maybe, just
maybe, the overwhelming influence of religious
politics will be attenuated after its phenomenal two –
decade run to give a wider room for discussing
critical electoral issues .

Holy Anointing

Holy Anointing
“But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.” (1 John 2:20)

The word “unction” in our text is translated “anointing” the other two times it is used (1 John 2:27). That term, and a companion word, are used only seven times in the New Testament, but all refer to the same essential concept often spoken of in the Old Testament.

Both things (tabernacle, temple, vessels, offerings) and people (priests, Levites, kings, ambassadors) were “anointed”—often ceremoniously—to identify them as consecrated or honored for a special service or position. Once anointed, the person or object was to be held in great respect by everyone.

Thus, we who are the “children of God” (Romans 8:16) have been anointed by God Himself (2 Corinthians 1:21) in such a way that the anointing abides, teaches, and is truth (1 John 2:27). This anointing is, obviously, no ceremonial oil demonstrating an honor (Psalm 133:2), but rather the “pouring out” of the Holy Spirit Himself onto and into our earthly bodies, consecrating us to be the very “temple” of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19).

This “unction” further designates us to be “kings and priests” (Revelation 1:6) who will one day “reign on earth” (Revelation 5:10). We are called “lively stones” (1 Peter 2:5) being built into a spiritual house for the Lord.

Furthermore, we are to be seen as “chaste virgin[s]” (2 Corinthians 11:2) who are ambassadors of Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20), having been set apart as a “vessel unto honour” (2 Timothy 2:21) in the “household of God” (Ephesians 2:19). We are to know all these things.

This Is Amazing…Pastor Storms Mortuary To Resurrect His Dead Wife In Kenya.

Pastor Storms Mortuary To Resurrect His Dead Wife In Kenya

pastore

A pastor caused a stir at the Gakwegori Funeral Home in Kenya when he stormed the mortuary to resurrect his dead wife.

Pastor Robinson Karumba of Eagle Wings Prophetic Ministries, arrived at the mortuary with his members in the early hours of Wednesday, demanding the body of his wife released to him,The deceased, Ms. Polly Rosa Ng’ endo who died following an undisclosed illness on Sunday, was released to his husband, who then took her into a secluded room, laid her naked body on a table and applied anointing oil.

Sources say after the pastor applied anointing oil on his late wife, he and his members started singing praise songs accompanied with a guitar and keyboard.

According to the pastor, who brought along clothes and shoes for his wife, he was following the teachings of Jesus which, he claimed, directed the believers would be raised from the dead after four days.
‘We believe she is not dead, but merely resting.

She is a believer like me and has preached in many places and with prominent preachers. I had to do what I have always preached. Jesus was called to Lazarus home after he had died for four days.’ he said.

Explaining while he brought along musical instruments to the Mortuary, he said:

‘Even Daughter said my mother will come back on Wednesday and that is why I came today. We are playing guitar and other instruments because she was a musician.’

The preacher also said people are preparing for her burial scheduled for Saturday, but if she resurrects before then, he will stage up a thanksgiving ceremony instead.

‘Back at home, people have been preparing for the burial. If she resurrects, Saturday would be a thanksgiving ceremony. We will be marking her resurrection,’

The most five interesting things that has to be known about COZA CHURCH, NIGERIA.

it only makes sense that we shed some light on this fascinating place of worship.
Here are five interesting things that make this vibrant church stand out.
1. It started from humble beginnings: Looking at the COZA of today, it’s kind of hard to imagine it being small,
but it started out that way. One thing I know for sure is that it started in Ilorin, Kwara State in 1999. However,
there is some confusion about the exact origin story. One source says that COZA started with 15 people, then
moved to a place rented for N350 rent. This reportedly according to according to Rev. Biodun & Pst. Modele
Fatoyinbo.
Another source (a COZA member) says differently. She says that the church started at the Stella Obasanjo Hall
in Ilorin, while the family lived in a one room apartment. Regardless of the differences, one thing is sure which
is that COZA started small in 1999. From a small opening in Ilorin, it has grown to over 20,000 members at the
various branches and attracted a growing number of followers online.
2. COZA has only 5 branches and four pastors: For a church that has been around for over 17 years, one would
think that the church would have a lot of branches and pastors. Surprisingly, this is not the case. So far, COZA
has just five branches; one in Ilorin, then Abuja in 2008, a Lagos branch in 2012, a Port Harcourt branch in 2016
and finally another in Dubai, which started this year. Another plot twist is that there are only ordained 4 full-time
pastors. Rev. Biodun Fatoyinbo mans the Head Quarters in Abuja with his wife, Pastor Modele Fatoyinbo,
popularly called Mummy D. He also pays a weekly visit to the Dubai branch.
Pastor Folarin “Flow” Ogunsola is the resident pastor in Lagos while Pastor Wole Soetan mans the PH branch.
Pastor Kenneth Habuh-Rajan takes care of the Ilorin branch. This is a shocker because a lot of churches are
known for having loads of branches.
3. Youths love this church: While other churches are complaining that the young people are leaving, COZA is
filled with them. A source called it the perfect place for youth. In her words, “The church understands the need
for members to be able to have fun in church so they don’t get bored and turn to secular forms of entertainment.
This informs the kind of music played and performed in COZA as well as the general ambience of the church.”
Another reason why this is a perfect place of worship for young people is because of the dress code. In the
words of my source, “COZA members are known to dress very well both in church and outside because they
believe that, while God looks at the heart, men look at the outward appearance to judge. The excellent and trendy
outfits are also a strategy to show that being a Christian is not an excuse for being boring.”
ALSO READ: 7 reasons why young people love House on the Rock »
4. The sermons are so motivational: I looked up some of Rev. sermons and I have to say that they are quite
good. They are so good that make for nice motivational quotes.
My source agrees with me saying, “The messages preached in COZA are not high sounding sermons that confuse
the hearers, rather they are filled with practical keys that can be used to better daily life. ”
5. COZA members reflect the motto of the church: COZA’s motto is ‘the wealthy place.’ This is reflected in the
members, little wonder the founder is known as one of the most stylish pastors in Nigeria. My source adds that
“Most COZA members reflect the same persona inside the church as they do outside because COZA is more than a
church, it’s a lifestyle. ”
With all of the above, it is clear that COZA is an interesting church that is here to stay.

Read: Romans 6:1–14

Bible in a Year: Jeremiah 51–52; Hebrews 9

Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Galatians 5:25

My neighbor Tim has a figurine on his dashboard of a “wild thing” based on Maurice Sendak’s beloved children’s book Where the Wild Things Are.

Not long ago Tim was following me through traffic and made some abrupt moves to keep up. When we arrived, I asked, “Was that the ‘wild thing’ driving?”

The following Sunday I forgot my sermon notes at home. I “flew” out of the church to retrieve them, passing Tim along the way. When we met later, he joked, “Was that the wild thing driving?” We laughed, but his point hit home—I should have paid attention to the speed limit.

When the Bible describes what it means to live in a relationship with God, it encourages us to “offer every part of [ourselves]” to Him (Romans 6:13). I took Tim’s response to me that day as a gentle reminder from God to yield my “lead foot,” because I am to give all of myself to Him out of love.

The question of “who’s driving?” applies to all of life. Do we let the “wild things” of our old sin nature drive us—like worry, fear, or self-will—or do we yield to God’s loving Spirit and the grace that helps us grow?

Giving in to God is good for us. Scripture says that God’s wisdom takes us down “pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace” (Proverbs 3:17). Better to follow where He leads.

Loving Lord, thank You for the grace You give us to obey You, and the peace You give us as we stay near.

What God requires He also inspires.

INSIGHT

Paul dismisses the notion that God’s grace permits us to do whatever we want. In fact, he finds the idea preposterous (Romans 6:2). God’s grace frees us to choose life in Him. That’s why Paul says, “Offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness” (v. 13).

Today, what do I need to offer to God?

1 My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:

2 For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.

3 Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:

4 So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.

5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil.

MESSAGE:

It is very unfortunate that many parents are the architects of the untimely demise of their children; not because they are witches or sorcerers, but because they are ignorant of God’s word that keeps people, especially innocent children, alive.

The word of God in today’s memory verse is food for thought in this regard. At the initial stage of a child’s life, he or she is ignorant of this scripture; it is therefore the duty of parent to teach them the way of the Lord established in the word of God.

It however becomes a compound problem when parents themselves don’t know the way of the Lord. Parents should serve as the voice of God in their children’s lives.

Godly parents will echo the word of the Lord in Proverbs 3:5-6, which says:

“Trust in the lord with all time heart: and lean not unto thine own understanding, in all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

It is saddening to observe that instead of parents teaching their children to trust in the Lord their Maker, they rather teach them to trust in the knowledge derived from the education they spend a fortune to acquire.

Some parents even see their children as being wiser than them, simply because these children can relate better with modern gadgets and appliances.

Although these appliances can be deployed to serve beneficial purposes, they often mislead and introduce children to emotional, psychological and even spiritual trauma when the use of such devices by these children is not monitored and controlled.

Some people read about Eli and his children but don’t seem to learn from it [1st Samuel 2:11-4:18]. Many parents are carefree whenever it comes to discipline, allowing their children to walk directly onto the path of destruction.

The Lord was so grieved by the acts of Eli’s children that He declared this frightening judgment on Eli’s household in 1st Samuel 3:12-14:

“In that day I will perform against Eli all things which I have spoken concerning his house: when I begin, I will also make an end. For I have told him that I will judge his house for ever for the iniquity which he knoweth: because his sons made themselves Vile, and he restrained them not, and therefore I have sworn unto the house of Eli, that the iniquity of Eli’s house shall not be purged with sacrifice nor offering for ever”

May your household never come under God’s judgment. Beloved, it is better not to bring children into this world than to bring them up without the fear or God. My prayer for you today is that your children will not fall prey to the devil’s destructive works in Jesus’ Name.

Love

TOPIC a— Love: Access to the Manifestations of the Spirit of God!

Welcome to another exciting week! I hope you were blessed by the last teaching. Today, we shall focus on: Love: Access to the Manifestations of the Spirit of God!

From scriptures, we discover that love is an important force that the Holy Spirit will use to distinguish His people these last days. Also,it is an attribute of the Spirit of the fear of the Lord. In John 14:21, we read: He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. Also, Paul said: For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). So, there is a Spirit of love. In 1 John 2:15-17, God spoke very strongly: Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. Thus, the Holy Ghost, through His ministry, infuses the love of God into our being. On one occasion, the Holy Ghost spoke to me saying, “The only way to be free from the spirit of the world is to be possessed with the Spirit of love.” I want you to know that the love of God is what eradicates the love of the world and as such the spirit of the world cannot hold us captive when the love of God is resident inside us. The Spirit of love gets us addicted to God and that is what makes one to be a man after God’s own heart.

This love empowers us to do the following, among others:

1. Love Destroys Selfishness: The Spirit of love is the only way to destroy selfishness. We saw from scriptures that after the Holy Spirit came, the New Testament Church was baptised with the Spirit of love. So addicted were they that no one said that anything he had was his own. Those who hadpossessions sold them (Acts 4:32, 34-35). God became the centre of their lives and the Church flourished. The Bible records: And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all (Acts 4:33).However, the spirit of selfishness took possession of Ananias and his wife Sapphira(Acts 5:1-3). Unfortunately, they lost their lives as a result.

2. Love Quenches the Devil: David was a man after God’s own heart because his love for God was hot more than any other person in his generation. It was his love for God that drove him to confront Goliath and this brought him the victory that Saul the king could not obtain for Israel. We must understand that love is greater than faith. We are told that there are three forces–faith, hope and love but the greatest of themis love (1 Corinthians 13:13). Now, if by taking the shield of faith we can quench all the fiery darts of the devil, then by walking in love, we quench the devil himself! Why? God’s Word says in 1 John 4:16: And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. That means the love of God makes us become a partaker of God. The nature of God begins to flow inside us and satan can’t handle that!

3. Love Empowers us to Give: The love of God is active and it is a giving love. God so loved the world, He gave, and gave and gave! The truth is that He is still giving and giving till now. The Bible says: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16). We respond to His love by giving to show that we know what love really means. So, it is not the love of God if it is not a giving love.

4. Love Ends all Struggles: Man was stripped of the love nature when man fell in the Garden of Eden. So, it takes supernatural help for man to get back to that realm. However, the love of God is made easy and made possible by the help of the Holy Spirit. Every struggle ends by love. When the love of God is in place, our struggles come to an end. In other words, things work for us only to the level of our love for God.

5. Love Empowers us for Kingdom Endeavours: God wants all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. It is written:…but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). Also, Jesus said to Peter: …lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep (John 21:16). We must understand that the most valid proof of our love for Jesus is our passion for souls. If we cannot love what He loves, we don’t love Him. Thus, praying for souls to be saved and going out on the harvest field to get them saved is a proof of our love for God.

In summary, God is preparing us to be treasures on the earth and only the Spirit of love can make us give Him His place in our lives. Thus, you must be born again to access the Spirit of love. Are you born again? If you are not, this is an opportunity to do so. Simply say the following prayer: Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins. Cleanse me with Your precious Blood. Today, I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Thank You Jesus for saving me!
